What To Wear: Turkey Day 2011

WTW: Turkey Day

Thanksgiving Day 2011 is upon us. So get excited and get dressed. Whether you’re house hopping or spending the day at home with family and friends, choosing a turkey-friendly outfit should be sweet as pie.

One of my favorite holiday looks is a cozy sweater dress and a pair of boots. Its simple, straight to the point and it leaves plenty of room for my mom’s coca-cola glazed ham and cranberry dressing. Hmm, hmm good!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Yours,

S. Johnson

Shop Now: Coats & Satchels

coats and satchels

Keeping up with the trends is a fashionista’s favorite past time. Whether you’ve spied this season’s ‘it” boot or have fallen in love with a hot, new online boutique, trend forecasting requires an eye for style. What’s hot now? Technicolor coats and satchels.

A fresh take on Fall wardrobe necessities is the bright, long-lined coat. This goes without saying, as the modern style star needs to stay warm, its only natural that she would want to do it in color. As for the satchel, a quintessential lady bag such as this will forever be relevant. By choosing the size and hue that fits you, you’ve not only chosen a definite go-to bag, you’ve also taken part in a trend that never goes out of style.

Fierce Find Under $50

forever 21 , $39.80

Thanks to forever 21, the ever-popular double-breasted coat can make its way into your Fall/Winter wardrobe for under $50. Pair the coat with skinny pants and a pair of loafers, or my personal favorite, knee-high boots, denim and a collared shirt.  And when the next year rolls around and you want to freshen up the look, opt to change the buttons or crop the sleeves.

Style Intelligence: Transitional Dressing

chic in transition

Transitioning your closet from summer to fall is no easy task no matter what the trends. Sandals or Boots? Tanks or Sweaters? Jeans or Shorts? All of these questions paint our thoughts as we rummage through our wardrobes in search of that perfect end of summer, ready for fall piece. Here are some of my go-to transitional pieces:

The Slouchy Cardigan

The Cropped Chino Pant

The Crew Neck Tee

The Dark Wash Skinny Jean

A Pair of Brogues

The Best One-Stop-Shop to find these items? One word: MARSHALLS! Marshalls has been a friend of mine since those highly anticipated back-to-school shopping sprees. And does just as well for the of-age fashionista on a budget. Thank me later!
