Runway Rewind: Falguni & Shane Peacock F/W 2012

Falguni & Shane Peacock’s Fall Collection took Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week back to the future. Laser sharp brows, 10 inch pony tails, sparkling beaded gowns, velvet applique, black feather detailing and pops of blue made futuristic fashion statements for Fall 2012.

Peacock combines fantasy and the unusual throughout the latest collection, with long sleeved catsuits with trains made of feathers suitable for evening gowns. Beams of blue danced down the runway in bodycon silhouettes featuring exquisite bead work and yes, more feathers.

And finally, corseted cocktail dresses with gold and gun metal breast plates reminded us of R2-D2 while dark digital prints and thigh high slits screamed 25th century sensuality.

Runway Rewind: Nicole Miller F/W 2012

Nicole Miller’s Fall Collection showcased the ultimate in 70s glam rock. Crushed velvet leggings, silk georgette blouses and over-the-top colored furs commanded the cat walk at the packed 6pm show under the tents at Lincoln Center. Garden florals accompanied Jimi Hendrix inspired suede jumpers, boots and floppy hats in chocolate brown and cheetah.

Miller mixed leather fringe with digital prints in maxi-dresses and clutch handbags, gold chain-link belts and blacked-out sunglasses. Baubles that looked like art hung from the necks of Miller’s models, styled with boxy dresses, thick tights and lace-up ankle booties.

Miller’s collection also spoke highly of 1970s androgyny. Collared shirts buttoned to the neck, patch work leathers, big, wild curls and brightly painted nails reminded us of Steven Tyler.

Sensual and clean, BCBG Max Azria’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection also spoke highly of femininity. Runway Rewind: Sass & Bide Fall 2011

Mixed prints, imaginative color combinations and flounce make up Sass & Bide’s Fall 2011 collection. You say exotic, we say midtown girl with a twist. However, its not the runway that excites LTC, its the trickle down effect into your hautest retailers. H&M, Topshop and Forever 21 have already jumped on the tribal trend. We’ve had at it. How about you?

LTC wants to know your thoughts on Sass & Bide Fall 2011 and the tribal trend.
